Mahesh Basnet Alleges Controversial Earnings and Popularity of Kulman Ghising
Kathmandu – UML leader Mahesh Basnet has made controversial claims on Facebook regarding Kulman Ghising’s earnings and political influence. According to Basnet, Kulman’s “extraordinary earning method” began through Lama Construction, a company in which his nephew holds a 50% share.
Basnet further alleged that the same company secured the Surya Binayak–Dhulikhel road project by colluding with the then Prachanda-led government and dividing funds among themselves. He claimed that under the pretext of inspection, Kulman manipulated budget allocations to benefit his nephews.
Basnet stated that Kulman has been visiting sites such as the Eco landslide on the Sindhupalchok–China border and the Middle Bhotekoshi Hydropower project. He also alleged that during his tenure as MD, Kulman ran a regular income-generating business through the Nepal Electricity Authority.
Writing on social media, Basnet said, “Neither religion nor money can be earned simultaneously. But Kulman became a figure who earned money while deceiving ordinary citizens to gain popularity.”
According to Basnet, YouTube channels that Kulman nurtured in the past are still active, indicating his continued influence in these schemes.
