Mahesh Basnet Accuses Madhav Nepal and Prachanda of Being Power-Hungry

KATHMANDU. CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet has stated that Netas Madhav Kumar Nepal and Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' are solely driven by post and power.

Basnet took a sarcastic jab, saying that while the two leaders disagree on many things, they do agree on one thing: they cannot live without position and power.

Speaking about the unity among communist factions, he claimed that Prachanda even changed the name of his party for the sake of power. "Madhav Nepal and Comrade Prachanda disagree on many things.

But one common thing they agree on is post and power. Prachanda used to take great pride in the CPN (Maoist), the party that led the successful revolution. He was ready to change the name of that party. We have understood why," he said.

He further stated that while the leaves of old trees fall and become fertilizer, Madhav Kumar Nepal, despite falling away from the UML like a leaf, proved to be useless.

He added that there is an increased risk that Nepal, having fallen from the UML, will become fertilizer for the Maoists and be used against the UML itself.
