“Government Like a Crow Lost in the Fog, Serving Its Own Interests, Not the People: Mahesh Basnet”

Kathmandu – CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet has linked the ongoing protests to the plans of foreign agents and stressed the need for strict action against attackers and looters.

Expressing his views through a Facebook post, Basnet said that protesters and violent looters must be distinguished, adding, “Without punishing looters and profiteers, no one will invest in Nepal.”

He remarked that real reform in the country comes not only through a change in leadership but also through a change in mindset and responsibility.

Criticizing past events, he stated that both the abandonment of duty by security agencies and the loss of wisdom by political leaders were crimes against the nation.

Basnet warned that if lawlessness and impunity continue to rise, Nepal could turn into a “failed state.” He further alleged that the protests were being orchestrated by Nepali “Lucifers” under foreign plans, using young people to attempt to destroy the country within hours.

Commenting on the current government, Basnet compared it to “a crow lost in the fog,” stating, “It does not fulfill the expectations of the people, only its own interests.”

He concluded by saying that justice, accountability, and impartial governance are the true foundations of stability and investment.
