Mahesh Basnet Calls for Unity and Protection of Democracy on Constitution Day
Kathmandu – UML leader Mahesh Basnet has urged everyone to remember the importance of the Constitution and democratic republic on the occasion of Constitution Day.
Basnet wrote on Facebook that today is a day to remember the historic achievement of the Constitution and democratic republic, gained through past struggles, sacrifices, and a long journey.
He said the Constitution ensures the rights, equality, and dignity of the Nepali people. He also mentioned that the Constitution and democracy are under continuous attack.
He added that violence, chaos, suppression, intolerance, and narrow self-interest are trying to weaken national unity and the achievements earned by the people. In such a challenging situation, all Nepalis must stand together to protect the Constitution, strengthen democracy, and safeguard national sovereignty.
Basnet also urged everyone to work together to advance the journey toward peace, stability, good governance, and a prosperous Nepal on the occasion of Constitution Day.
