Madhesh Province Assembly to Elect New Speaker Today
KATHMANDU – The election to fill the vacant position of Speaker in the Madhesh Province Assembly is being held today. The provincial assembly meeting scheduled for 1:00 PM this Sunday has a program to present the proposal for the election of the Speaker.
Two candidates have filed their nominations for the Speaker of Madhesh Province. Ram Ashish Yadav, the chief whip of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal from the seven-party alliance, and Triloki Prasad, a provincial lawmaker from the CPN (UML), have registered their candidacies.
In Yadav's candidacy, Nepali Congress provincial assembly member Birendra Kumar Singh is the proposer and CPN (Maoist Centre) provincial assembly member Fakira Mahato is the supporter. For Triloki, Jay Chandra Prasad Patel is the supporter and Sharada Devi Thapa is the proposer.
