Rabi Lamichhane Appears in Kaski District Court, Heads to Syangja

Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has reached the Kaski District Court to receive his court date.

Lamichhane received the date regarding the ongoing cases of cooperative fraud, money laundering, and organized crime currently under consideration by the court.

According to Ram Bahadur Kisan, Information Officer of the Kaski District Court, Lamichhane received the date on Thursday morning.

Lamichhane is accused of misappropriating funds from the Suryadarshan Savings and Credit Cooperative in Pokhara. Cooperative victims had filed a complaint alleging that public savings were illegally transferred to Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd. to operate Galaxy Television.

After receiving the court date, Lamichhane left for Syangja as part of his election campaign. RSP workers stated that he will participate in "Ghanti Abhibadan" programs at various locations in Syangja. Having arrived in Pokhara on Wednesday for the election campaign, Lamichhane headed to Syangja today after completing his court formalities.

Based on the complaint filed by cooperative victims, the District Government Attorney's Office, Kaski, filed a case in the district court against 63 individuals, including Ravi, accusing them of fraud amounting to Rs. 1 arba 51 crore. The case is currently sub-judice.

Kaski Police had kept Ravi in custody for 84 days for investigation into the cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering cases.

After the government attorney filed the case, the Kaski District Court issued a detention order and subsequently released Ravi on bail. At that time, Ravi deposited 65 lakh rupees as bail in the court.

The District Government Attorney's Office, Kaski, has claimed 33,765,000 rupees in fines against Lamichhane regarding the embezzlement of Suryadarshan Cooperative's funds. Furthermore, a claim of 278,944,705 rupees has been made regarding money laundering.
