Kulman Ghising Demands Withdrawal of Fuel Price Hike
Surkhet: Kulman Ghising, Chairman of the Ujyaalo Nepal Party, has demanded the government withdraw the recent price hike on petroleum products. Speaking at a press conference organized today in Birendranagar, Surkhet, during the Karnali Province-level first leadership gathering and organization expansion program, he stated that the government should provide special subsidies to Karnali regarding the increased fuel prices.
"Karnali is inherently expensive due to its difficult geography. To facilitate the travel and movement of both domestic and international tourists here, prices of fuels like diesel, petrol, and gas should not be increased," he said. He added that since the neighboring country India has not increased fuel prices, the government should reduce the burden of price hikes on citizens and work toward stabilization.
Chairman Ghising further mentioned that they would assist in creating a conducive environment for the two-thirds majority government to function. He claimed that during his leadership at the Nepal Electricity Authority and his time in government, approximately 35 billion rupees in investment was secured for the electrification of Karnali and the development of transmission lines.
According to him, work on the 132 kV transmission line is currently underway up to Jumla. He stated that although the party faced defeat because it was forced into elections shortly after its formation without adequate management, Ujyaalo Nepal would emerge as a major party in the next election by expanding its organization down to the ward level.
