Kulman Ghising Consults MIT Professor on Smart City Planning
Kathmandu — Kulman Ghising, former Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, held an in-depth discussion on modern smart urban planning with Prof. Markus EiKatsha, a research scientist and urbanist at the MIT Media Lab (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), USA.
Sharing details on his official Facebook post, Ghising wrote, “This type of model can be implemented for Nepal’s smart urban development. However, due to the lack of effective smart city planning in Nepal, cities are expanding haphazardly.”
He further emphasized the need for a comprehensive national planning approach to build smart cities, stating, “To make this possible, leadership with vision, credibility, and strong willpower is essential.”
As urbanization continues rapidly in Nepal, Ghising’s remarks are expected to draw attention from policymakers toward the importance of smart city planning and sustainable urban development.
