Kulman Ghising Calls for New Leadership in Upcoming Elections

Ramechhap: Kulman Ghising, the Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development in the interim government, has stated that a government of new parties should be formed after the elections on March 4 (Falgun 21).

Speaking at the first district gathering of the Ujyalo Nepal Party in his home district, Manthali, Minister Ghising emphasized that elections are essential for national stability. "Elections must happen for the country's stability. However, this election must bring forward new leadership. If the old parties return to power again, what is the point of this election?" he asked.

He mentioned that his individual victory is not the main goal. Instead, he claimed that national development is only possible if candidates from the Ujyalo Nepal Party win across the country with a majority or a two-thirds mandate.

Ghising warned that if leaders from old parties like the Nepali Congress, UML, and Maoist Center return to power, the political momentum created by the recent "Gen-Z rebellion" would lose its meaning. He believes the government formed after this election will be critical for the country's future.

Urging party members to work toward winning a majority, he stressed the need for a capable and honest Prime Minister. "In the past, leaders only focused on politics, not leadership," he said. "We are not here just to play politics; we are here to work for the country's prosperity."

Ghising added that a country cannot be developed through speeches alone. He called for new political forces to unite and defeat the old powers. Claiming that the Ujyalo Nepal Party has spread rapidly across the nation, he noted that public hope for new leadership is growing.
