Koshi Province to Prioritize 'Project Bank' in Upcoming Fiscal Year Budget

Biratnagar. The Koshi Province government has intensified the budget formulation process for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Bidur Kumar Linthethep, informed that budget preparations are underway with a focus on bringing a planned and results-oriented budget this time.

In a conversation with Nepal News Bank, Minister Linthethep mentioned that continuous discussions are being held with experts during the budget construction process. According to him, the budget framework is being prepared by keeping in mind the overall economic condition of the province, development priorities, and long-term impacts.

Minister Linthethep stated that a clear policy has been adopted this time to prioritize only those projects included in the 'Project Bank.' He explained that this decision was made based on past experiences where the inclusion of haphazard projects led to implementation issues.

Acknowledging that the implementation of the current fiscal year's budget has not been satisfactory, Minister Linthethep noted that various reasons, including the 'Gen Z movement,' have affected development projects.

The provincial government appears focused on the goal of maintaining economic discipline and accelerating the pace of development through the upcoming budget. With preparations to adopt clear criteria from project selection to implementation, this year's budget is expected to be more effective than in the past.
