MP Khusbu Oli Questions Government on Foreign Loans

Kathmandu: National Prajatantra Party MP Khusbu Oli has raised serious questions regarding the government's decision on foreign loans. Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives, she referred to the Cabinet's approval of a $90 million concessional loan from the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank for the Digital Nepal Transformation Project, as well as a $95 million concessional loan for the Sustainable and Inclusive Delivery Project.

She demanded a clear answer from the government regarding which parliamentary committee, what kind of policy debate, and on what basis of priority and evaluation such major economic decisions were made.

Oli expressed suspicion that such decisions, made within a small circle at a time when the Parliament is not yet fully organized structurally and committees and sub-committees have not been actively formed, may not be transparent. She asked, "Is this an offered loan or a requested loan?"
