Communication Minister Kharel Meets Prachanda to Discuss Elections

Kathmandu: Communication Minister Jagdish Kharel and the Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', held a meeting today. On Friday, Minister Kharel reached Prachanda's residence in Hattiban for the talks.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Minister Kharel informed that he has been consulting with top leaders of major political parties to create a favorable environment for the elections. According to him, he has held meetings with the President of the Nepali Congress, the Chairman of the CPN-UML, and the NCP Coordinator.

Minister Kharel stated that the discussions centered around the election date fixed for Falgun 21. He shared that NCP Coordinator Prachanda clarified there is no alternative to the elections.

"His view is that we must go for elections at any cost and they should be held on Falgun 21. During our conversation, he said on behalf of the Nepal Communist Party that since there is no alternative, the elections must happen on the scheduled date. 

Prachanda also expressed his commitment to support the government in conducting the polls," Minister Kharel said.

Additionally, the Minister mentioned that Prachanda promised to provide the necessary cooperation to the government to complete the election process. 

Meanwhile, Minister Kharel also informed that Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has clarified that his party's priority is the election rather than the restoration of Parliament.

He added that Deuba emphasized the need to create a secure environment and pledged that the Nepali Congress would provide the necessary support to ensure the elections are held successfully.
