Jhalanath Khanal Condemns US-Israel Military Action in Iran
Kathmandu: Former Prime Minister and senior leader of the Nepali Communist Party, Jhalanath Khanal, has expressed serious concern and issued a strong condemnation regarding the joint military attack carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, 2026.
In a press release issued on Sunday, Khanal described the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking officials during the attack as a blatant violation of human rights, an abandonment of human conscience, and an open defiance of international law.
The statement labeled the assassination of a sovereign nation's supreme leader and the breach of fundamental principles of international relations and the UN Charter as a "naked and barbaric" act.
Claiming that this joint operation was conducted under the direct instructions of the US President and the Israeli Prime Minister, the statement noted that such actions dare to push the world toward a "law of the jungle." It warned that this creates a serious threat to the independence, self-respect, and sovereignty of nations, particularly small and developing ones.
The release further emphasized that global powers, as well as medium and small nations, must not remain silent against such imperialist tendencies. It called upon the entire international community to unite and oppose these bullying and illegal acts of violence.
