RSP Central Committee Member Khagendra Sunar Drawn into Controversy Over Old Statement
Khagendra Sunar, a central committee member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and a candidate for the House of Representatives, has been dragged into a serious controversy due to one of his old statements.
A video clip from an interview in which he argued that “people should be allowed to eat beef in Nepal” has gone viral on social media.
Sunar, who rose to prominence through the Dalit movement, has previously been embroiled in controversies due to anarchic activities and provocative remarks.
The RSP itself has faced difficulties after elevating him to a leadership role without thoroughly assessing his background. Voters have now begun questioning RSP candidates about Sunar’s statements.
Today, Sunar posted a video on social media to clarify his remarks. He claimed that words he never said were distorted using technology and made viral by cutting them out of context. “We have respect for the national animal, because we are also citizens of this country,” he said.
He further stated that he is a vegetarian and does not support the killing of any living being.
