NC Leader Khadka Stresses Sovereignty and Principles in Constitutional Reform
Kathmandu. Nepali Congress former Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka has stated that he will take strong initiatives regarding the issue of constitution amendment, even from outside the parliament. Addressing a gathering organized in Kathmandu on Monday, he recalled that previous attempts at amendment were unsuccessful and expressed his view that the process must now move forward based on clear ideas, values, and principles.
He said, "Issues regarding constitution amendment are coming forward now. We were not able to succeed when we tried to amend it in the past. In this regard, our ideas, values, and principles are centered on our self-respect and the fundamental laws of the constitution, which aim to make the Nepali people sovereign and empowered. We will join this campaign from both inside and outside the parliament by advancing the constitution amendment process without compromising on those basic matters."
Khadka stated that the amendment process should proceed without compromising on the fundamental principles of the constitution and the provisions that make the Nepali people sovereign and empowered. He also urged members to express their views in parliament by keeping the party's history, ideals, and the interests of the nation and the people at the center.
