Senior Journalist and Youth Leader Kabir Rana in Bhaktapur-2

Bhaktapur. Kabir Rana is a name that has been continuously connected with the soil, culture, and the joys and sorrows of the people of Bhaktapur for four decades. Having established a fearless identity in journalism and integrity in politics, Rana has now entered the electoral field as the common voice of the people of Bhaktapur Constituency No. 2.

The political journey of Kabir Rana, who has served multiple times as a member of the Nepali Congress Central Publicity Department, a Mahasamiti member, and currently a senior District Working Committee member, is not a happy coincidence but a result of a rigorous struggle against the darkness of the Panchayat era. Having fought continuously for democracy since his student days, the Nepali Congress has fielded Rana as its candidate in Bhaktapur-2 this time.

When he stepped into the politics of the Nepal Student Union from Adarsha Secondary School in 2037 BS, he had only one dream: democracy. While participating in the historic 'Satyagraha' of 2042 BS, he endured six months of harsh imprisonment and torture, yet his faith in democracy did not waver.

From serving as the Booth President of Balkot to becoming an elected member of the District Development Committee and reaching the Central Publicity Department of the Nepali Congress, he has always prioritized the issues of the common man. He has been implementing B.P. Koirala’s socialist ideology not just in slogans, but in his style of work.

Rana is not only a politician but also a sharp intellectual and a legal expert. A graduate in Commerce and Law from Tribhuvan University, he made journalism the foundation for social transformation. As the Editor-in-Chief of 'Deshantar Weekly,' he has been informing the public for decades. 

His contributions as a board member of prestigious institutions like the National News Agency (RSS) and Nepal Television have already proven his administrative, managerial, and policy-making skills.

Having visited over two dozen countries, including the USA, UK, Germany, Japan, and Australia, Rana possesses a clear vision to coordinate the development models of the world’s developed cities with Nepal's fundamental needs. He has strongly advocated for democracy and press freedom while representing Nepal on international platforms.

Rana has prioritized increasing the income of locals by connecting Bhaktapur's historical art, culture, and heritage with the global tourism market, as well as upgrading inner roads and managing drainage systems in the Suryabinayak and Madhyapur Thimi areas.

While visiting the doorsteps of the voters of Bhaktapur-2, Rana has made his election agenda the improvement of public school standards, ensuring accessible health services at the local level, creating an environment for local youth to become entrepreneurs within the country through information technology and skill-based training, and implementing people-friendly governance by making public service delivery tech-friendly and transparent.
