JSP’s Purna Basnet: Party Leadership Pushed Organizations into an Abyss

Kathmandu — Purna Basnet, a leader of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has commented that the leadership of political parties has devastated organizations built through the struggle and sacrifice of millions of activists.

Expressing his views on the results of the House of Representatives election, Basnet stated that arrogant, manic, and eccentric leadership has pushed parties into an abyss. Basnet said, "Just as Louis XIV claimed 'I am the state,' our political leadership thought, 'I am the policy; I can do whatever I want.' This mindset has led to the current situation."

He remarked that because activists have not been able to become sovereign, it has been impossible to keep the party leadership in check; however, voters have now shown the leadership their power.

He added, "Whether we call it a matter of joy or misfortune, the leadership of these parties is still not going to correct or improve itself. Furthermore, even if they were to improve now, it wouldn't make a difference."

Basnet stated that he respects and welcomes the mandate expressed by the sovereign people through the election. Asserting that change is inevitable, he expressed hope that the coming days will embrace further positive transformations and lead the country toward prosperity.
