JSP Nepal's Circular to Subordinate Committees to Recommend Names of Candidates
The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal has issued a circular to its subordinate committees to recommend the names of candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives (Pratinidhi Sabha) member elections.
Purna Basnet, the Head of the Publicity and Publication Department of the party, informed that the circular issued to the subordinate committees stipulates that the Parliamentary Constituency Coordination Committee must send the names of the candidates to the District Committee by Poush 10.
The District Committee, along with necessary decisions, must send these names to the Province Committee by Poush 15. The Party Province Committee must then deliberate on the names received from the District Committee and send the names of potential candidates to the Central Office or the Federal Parliamentary Board, coordinated by Party President Upendra Yadav, by Poush 20, with a mandatory minimum of three people from each constituency.
According to him, for the Proportional Representation (PR) system, the District Committee must send the names of at least 3 male and 3 female candidates from each district to the Province Committee by Poush 1, ensuring they are inclusive according to ethnic clusters. The Province Committee must then discuss these names and submit the recommended candidates, along with its opinion, to the Central Office or the Parliamentary Board by Poush 5.
Basnet stated that if, for any reason, the names of candidates for the direct/proportional representation sides of the House of Representatives election are not received by or cannot be sent to the Central Office or the Federal Parliamentary Board within the stipulated time, the Parliamentary Board itself can nominate the candidates and implement the decision.
It has been stated that when sending names to the Federal Parliamentary Board, copies of the decision registers from the meetings of the Constituency Coordination Committee, District Committee, and Province Committee must also be attached.
He said, "Any organized party member who meets the qualifications as per Clause 117, Sub-clause (3) of the Party Statute and wishes to be a candidate for either the direct side or the proportional representation side can directly apply to the Central Office or the Federal Parliamentary Board.
The Federal Parliamentary Board can take the necessary decision on such applications after consulting with the concerned District and Province Committees."
It has been stated that the final decision regarding the candidates will be made by the Federal Parliamentary Board.
