JSP Leader Basnet Condemns Attack on Journalist, Calls for Stronger Protection
Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal’s publicity department chief, Purna Basnet, has strongly condemned the recent knife attack on Naya Patrika Daily correspondent Saurabh Yadav in Saptari, stressing that such incidents highlight the growing threats faced by journalists in Nepal.
Basnet urged all three tiers of government to take immediate action to ensure a safe, fearless, and independent environment for media professionals. He emphasized that the assault, carried out with the intent to kill, demands strict punishment for those responsible.
Extending wishes for Yadav’s speedy recovery, Basnet said the attack has instilled fear across the entire journalism sector. The incident, which occurred on 30 Shrawan 2082, has drawn widespread condemnation nationwide.
