JSP Claims Former President Bhandari’s Party Membership Battle Has Ended

Kathmandu — Purna Basnet, Head of the Publicity Department of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has claimed that former President Bidya Bhandari’s attempt to rejoin the CPN-UML has come to an end.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Basnet stated that both the political and legal battles over Bhandari’s UML membership have concluded. “The UML Central Committee has already made a clear political decision not to bring Bidya Bhandari back into the party. There is now no possibility of her immediate return to UML politics,” Basnet said.
He added, “As for seeking legal remedy, the decision made by the UML Central Committee is not only political but also legally binding. There is no room for appeal on this matter.”
According to Basnet, Bhandari’s recent activities have diminished any chance of a future decision in her favor by a UML Central Committee or General Convention. He sees no likelihood of her political comeback becoming an agenda item in UML meetings.
Basnet further accused UML of intentionally stirring up the issue to divert public attention from the government's failures, corruption, and the Rastriya Swatantra Party's signature campaign. “Unless this is all part of UML’s calculated political game, it’s safe to say that Bidya Bhandari’s political journey within UML has almost entirely ended,” he asserted.
He concluded that any grievances or threats Bhandari expresses through press conferences will have no real impact.
