JPMC Demands Unconditional Release of Durga Prasai
Kathmandu, November 19, 2025 – The Joint People's Movement Committee (JPMC) has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of activist Durga Prasai, who was arrested from his home at 12:30 AM on November 18 by the interim government.
JPMC Coordinator Navaraj Subedi issued a press release calling the midnight arrest "deplorable" and a betrayal of public expectations for the "Gen Z Movement"-backed government to uphold the rule of law.
The committee urged the government to respect human rights, freedom of expression, and peaceful assembly, warning that actions against civil liberties will lead to social unrest for which the government will be solely responsible.
