KP Sharma Oli Recommended Unanimously from Jhapa-5

JHAPA – The Nepal Communist Party (UML) has recommended its Chairman and former Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, as the sole candidate for the upcoming House of Representatives election from Jhapa Constituency No. 5.

District Chairman Prem Giri shared that a meeting of the regional committee held today chose Oli unanimously. Jhapa-5 is Oli’s home constituency. 

He was previously elected from this area in the parliamentary elections of 2048 BS, 2051 BS, 2056 BS, 2070 BS, 2074 BS, and 2079 BS. However, he lost the first Constituent Assembly election in 2064 BS, but won again in the second Constituent Assembly election in 2070 BS.

Similarly, three names have been recommended for the upcoming election scheduled for Fagun 21 from Jhapa Constituency No. 4. The regional committee has recommended Lal Bahadur Sawa Limbu, Hira Thapa, and Bhojkumari Nepal.

There are five constituencies in Jhapa. Chairman Giri mentioned that candidates for constituencies 1, 2, and 3 will be recommended by Sunday. 

The party has issued a "circular" to recommend three names from each constituency, which must include at least one woman.
