Ishwar Pokharel, Defeated in Presidential Race, Congratulates Newly Elected Leadership
Kathmandu— CPN (UML) leader Ishwar Pokharel has extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for a successful tenure to the new leadership elected from the party's 11th National Convention via social media.
Following the conclusion of the convention, which ran from Mangsir 27 to Poush 3, 2082 BS, Leader Pokharel shared his thoughts on social media, wishing success to the newly elected Chairperson, office bearers, and all members of the Central Committee.
Pokharel, who was defeated in the race for the party Chairperson, gracefully accepted the election results and expressed sincere gratitude to the convention delegates who cast their votes in his favor. He noted that while there are winners and losers in an election, the ideological issues he raised during the convention remain critically important.
In particular, he expressed his belief that debates will continue regarding the development of collective leadership under the guidance of People's Multi-party Democracy (PMPD), running the party according to established rules and procedures, and adhering to the principle of "checks and balances" to advance the party democratically.
Leader Pokharel also pledged that even though he is not in a leadership position, his participation and involvement in the UML's broader mission—centered on the patriotic movement, democratic struggle, and the foundation of socialism—will remain unbroken.
He concluded by thanking all the delegates who contributed to the success of the convention and expressed hope that the new leadership would make the CPN (UML) even stronger.
