"IGP Khapung's statement about resigning if pressured to arrest Oli and Lekhak is misleading," says Nepal Police Headquarters

The Nepal Police Headquarters has refuted news reports regarding a controversial statement allegedly made by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chandra Kuber Khapung, terming them misleading.
The Police Headquarters was drawn to the issue after some media outlets published news suggesting that IGP Khapung had said he would "resign if pressure is mounted to arrest former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak."
A statement issued by Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Binod Ghimire clarified that the IGP had not made any statement to that effect anywhere.
According to the statement, during the meeting with the Right Honourable Prime Minister and the Home Minister, the discussion was only focused on analyzing contemporary events and security challenges, and maintaining peace and order, in a cordial atmosphere.
