Candidates for House of Representatives can withdraw nominations until 1:00 PM today
Kathmandu, Jan 23: According to the Election Commission, candidates who filed nominations for the House of Representatives can withdraw their names by 1:00 PM today. As per the election schedule, the time for withdrawal is set from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM today.
Similarly, the final list of candidates will be published between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM today. According to the Commission, election symbols will be provided to the candidates from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM this evening.
Under the election program for the First-Past-The-Post system, the period for filing complaints or protests was set for January 21. The time for that day was scheduled from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Following that, from 3:00 PM that day until 5:00 PM on Thursday, the nominations and complaints were investigated, decisions were made, and the list of candidates was published.
A total of 3,486 nominations have been registered across 165 electoral constituencies nationwide. The registration of nomination papers was completed simultaneously across the country on January 20. Out of the total nominations, 3,089 are men, 396 are women, and one is categorized as other.
The election for the House of Representatives is being held on March 5. In the 275-member House of Representatives, 110 members will be elected through the proportional representation system and 165 members through the direct election system.
