Home Minister Aryal's Statement on Normalization and Rule of Law
Kathmandu. Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal stated that the current government was formed after an abnormal situation and is now working to normalize the situation along with restoring the rule of law.
Speaking at a meeting of the Federalism Strengthening and National Concern Committee on Thursday, he said that the government's objective is to make the elections free and fearless, and therefore, it is making every possible effort to normalize the situation.
He said, "Since the government was formed after an abnormal situation, we are in a position where we must normalize the situation, restore the rule of law, and guarantee security. Since this is a phased work, we have focused on normalizing the situation in the initial phase."
He further added, "The government's mandate is to ensure that the elections are free and fearless. Our belief is that the election must be even more robust than before. We are conscious of that."
He also stated that if the situation is not normalized, conflict could recur, and national security challenges would increase.
"What if the conflict immediately recurs? It could lead not just to a challenge to life and property but also to a national security challenge, so the conflict must not recur under any circumstances. We have made every possible effort to normalize the situation," he said.
He also mentioned that a lack of good governance could lead to rebellion and stated that good governance is the regular work of the government. The meeting discussed the state of peace and security and preparations for the upcoming election.
