Energy Minister Kulman Ghising Pressures NEA Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya to Resign
After the recent movement, newly appointed Energy Minister Kulman Ghising has reportedly pressured Hitendra Dev Shakya, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), to resign.
Ghising, who replaced Shakya in the position, has sent a message urging him to step aside voluntarily, citing the changed circumstances.
Ghising is preparing to replace Shakya with Manoj Silwal. If Shakya refuses to resign, measures are being considered either to remove him forcibly or to call him to the ministry.
Ghising was abroad when he was appointed minister, so he was not present to assume office. A few days ago, he had indirectly instructed Shakya to cooperate in opening the way in line with the sentiments of the Gen Z movement.
Shakya had responded that he was willing to work together. Shakya, who returned to the country only on Friday, is returning to the office today.
