High-Voltage Electoral Clash in Jhapa: Security Tightened as Oli and Balen File Candidacies

The competition between CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and former Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen), who filed his candidacy from Jhapa Constituency No. 5 for the March 5 (Phagun 21) election under the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has increased security challenges in Jhapa. 

In view of the potential tension arising from the clash between these two influential leaders, the local administration has placed security alertness on high priority.

Hundreds of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel have been deployed in Jhapa to prevent potential clashes and disputes. 

In addition to increasing 24-hour security patrols in sensitive areas of the constituency, strict surveillance has been initiated. 

The security mechanism has adopted a special strategy to peacefully conclude this decisive battle between the new force and the established leadership.
