Kathmandu Metropolitan City Approves Health Service Expansion and New Staff Positions

Kathmandu: The 18th session of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Municipal Assembly has passed important decisions regarding health service expansion and organizational improvements.

During the session concluded on Friday, City Mayor Balen Shah announced the approval of various proposals according to Section 16 of the Municipal Assembly Operation Procedure Act, 2075.

The Municipal Assembly approved a proposal to manage necessary manpower for 10 Health Promotion Centers where health insurance has been implemented. These proposals were previously approved by the 43rd Municipal Executive meeting.

According to this decision, 30 contract positions have been approved for various posts in the Health Promotion Centers, and 20 additional contract positions have been approved for software development and operation. The proposal was passed by a voice vote.

"I present the proposal to approve 30 contract positions for various posts in the 10 Health Promotion Centers and 20 positions for software development and operation, as approved by the 43rd Executive meeting," Mayor Balen said. "Based on the majority 'aye' voice vote, I declare the proposal to approve these contract positions passed in accordance with Section 16 of the Municipal Assembly Operation Procedure Act, 2075."

Similarly, the Municipal Assembly approved a proposal to delegate authority to the Municipal Executive to move forward with the review of the Metropolitan City’s organizational structure and staff positions. 

The Executive has been given the authority to approve and implement the Organization and Management survey report, which will be submitted by a committee formed under Section 5 of the Local Service Act issued by the Bagmati Provincial Government.

It is believed that these decisions passed by the Municipal Assembly will strengthen the city's health services and make the administrative structure more organized.
