Former King Gyanendra Welcomes Youth Involvement in Politics
On the occasion of New Year 2083, former King Gyanendra Shah described the increasing involvement of the youth generation in politics as a matter of enthusiasm. He expressed his belief that the active participation of educated youth proficient in modern technology can play a fruitful role in nation-building.
Emphasizing the need to move forward by correcting past mistakes, he commented that the country has failed to progress at the expected pace due to partisan political infighting and has become something of a laboratory. The former King pointed out that improving the country's current economic condition and further strengthening relations with neighboring friendly nations is indispensable.
Stating that citizens are feeling insecure due to a weak internal security system, he called the state's attention to making the security apparatus more efficient. He argued that the proper utilization of resources and the promotion of original culture and art are necessary to end dependency and make the country independent.
Finally, he called upon all parties to abandon the politics of revenge and seek a constitutional solution for the nation through dialogue, consensus, and cooperation.
