Grand Celebrations Across Nepal on King Gyanendra's Birthday, Asar 23 Declared a Historic Day

Kathmandu, Asar 23 – Former King Gyanendra Shah’s birthday is being celebrated today with grandeur across the nation. From early morning, large crowds of pro-monarchy and nationalist supporters have begun marching toward the Nirmal Niwas residence in the capital, Kathmandu.

Chiranjibi Bharati, spokesperson of the Citizen Uprising Campaign, described the day as a turning point in history.

“This is not just a birthday. It is a day of deep faith and dedication. Asar 23 will be remembered as the day history was made,” he stated.

People from various regions—youths, women, and the elderly—have gathered in Kathmandu carrying banners and chanting slogans such as "Our King, Our Identity." The crowd, waving national flags and shouting slogans, is making its way toward the Nirmal Niwas premises.

The main slogan echoing throughout the march is:
“Asar 23, History is Made – The King Returns, Hope Awakens!”

According to organizers, the day symbolizes a revival of nationalism, sovereignty, and stability. The Citizen Uprising Campaign has declared that today’s mass gathering is not merely a celebration, but a peaceful assertion of national pride and cultural identity.
