Government Failing Even in Fulfilling Its Minimum Responsibilities: Purna Basnet
Purna Basnet, head of the publicity department of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has remarked that the government is failing even to fulfill its minimum responsibilities and roles. He expressed this view while speaking about the party's stance on withdrawing its support to the government.
He said, "JSP Nepal was and still is necessary to pass bills in Parliament. As a responsible political party, we understood this and supported the government. However, the government perceived JSP Nepal’s vote of confidence and political flexibility as a weakness."
He further stated, "The party had clearly expressed that it could not support the land ordinance as it was not in the national interest. Despite this, the government brought the same land bill back to Parliament, provoking the party."
He also accused the government of attempting to defame the party and its leadership in a planned manner by spreading rumors that JSP President Upendra Yadav merely wanted a Deputy Prime Minister position and was lobbying and bargaining with the government for it.
Basnet claimed that the government has not even fulfilled its own commitments and agreements.
