Gen Z 2.0 Issues Clear Stance on Upcoming Elections Alongside Maghe Sankranti Greetings

Kathmandu: On the occasion of Maghe Sankranti, Gen Z 2.0 has released a statement expressing its clear stance on the upcoming elections. In the statement, Gen Z 2.0 extended festive greetings to all Nepali sisters and brothers while wishing for social unity, new beginnings, and a just future.

The statement highlighted serious concerns about the country’s current political situation, emphasizing that any election conducted without implementing the minimum demands of the people and prior agreements with the state is unacceptable. Gen Z 2.0 stated that taking agreements merely on paper and proceeding to elections would be a betrayal of the people.

It further noted that free and fair elections are impossible without ending corruption, impunity, and abuse of power, insisting on accountability for the guilty, justice for victims, and systemic reforms. The statement warned that elections held without these foundations would merely serve to maintain power.

Avin Limbu, spokesperson for Gen Z 2.0, urged the Election Commission, the government, and security agencies to act independently and impartially. The statement sent a clear message that they would not remain silent if elections were influenced by any party or power.

Limbu also warned that if forced elections were imposed against the will of the people, there would be a firm response through nationwide peaceful resistance and public movements.

At the conclusion of the statement, Limbu clarified that Gen Z 2.0 is not opposed to elections but supports elections conducted in a way that safeguards the rights, dignity, and future of the people.

The group reiterated that their final stance is that elections must not occur without reform, justice, and accountability. They wished that Maghe Sankranti inspires truth, courage, and wise decision-making in everyone.
