Gagan Thapa Claims Nepali Congress is a National Power, Not Just a National Party
Lalitpur. General Secretary of the Nepali Congress (NC), Gagan Thapa, has claimed that the Nepali Congress is not just a national party, but a national power.
Speaking at a party entry program organized by the Nepali Congress Lalitpur at the district party office in Nakhipot on Monday, he stated that because the Congress is a national power, if it falters in its national responsibility, the entire country will have to pay the price.
"Currently, the Nepali Congress needs power not just for elections. Elections come and go; that is not an unusual thing. Congress is a national power rather than a national party. A national power has a national responsibility. If a national power falters in its responsibility, the entire country has to pay the price," he said.
Furthermore, General Secretary Thapa stated that the country is currently caught in the grip of violence, and the responsibility to pull Nepal out of this mire of violence, no matter what the cost, lies on the shoulders of the Congress.
"The country is currently caught in such a grip of violence. Now, the Nepali Congress cannot afford to sit silently. We must pull Nepal out of this mire of violence, no matter what price we have to pay, no matter how much we are hurt," he stated.
He maintained that regardless of which party benefits from the election, the Nepali Congress's job is to ensure the country wins. He expressed the view that if the Congress performs well, the voters will follow them automatically.
He concluded by saying that the time has come for the Congress to correct its mistakes and shortcomings and once again fulfill the responsibility of guiding the nation.
