Gagan Thapa: Country Cannot Move Forward Without Addressing Gen-Z Protesters’ Demands

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has stated that the country can only move forward by respecting and addressing the demands of the Gen-Z protesters.

In a video shared on social media today, he said that without addressing the demands of Gen-Z, the country cannot progress. He also mentioned that the Nepali Congress is ready to form a government under the leadership chosen by the Gen-Z protesters.

He said, “At this time, the country can only move forward by respecting and addressing the demands put forward by our Gen-Z activist friends.

There is talk of forming an interim government, and that could be finalized by this evening. The Nepali Congress Party is not only ready to form a government under the leadership chosen by the protesters but is also creating the necessary environment for it.”

He also urged all Congress party workers to take initiatives from their respective positions to unite everyone.

He said, “Nepal currently needs healing. We need an initiative that brings everyone together. This is the responsibility of the Congress Party as a national force. Therefore, I call upon the party members to take initiatives from wherever they are to unite people.”

Commenting on the events of Bhadra 23 and 24, he said that they caused irreparable damage that cannot simply be overlooked, describing it as a stain on the party’s reputation.

He added, “On Bhadra 23, an unimaginable event occurred that none of us wanted. You and I were not in the government then, but our party was. Our reputation has been stained.

We cannot just wipe it off like a mirror; we must confront it. The Congress Party must apologize to the entire nation on this issue and try to heal this wound. The damage caused on Bhadra 24 was so great that no one can fully assess it.”
