Everest School Students Busy Harvesting Paddy and Gaining Practical Knowledge (Photos)
Bhaktapur. Like actual farmers, 104 students of Class 4 from Everest School, Miwachhen Byasi, Bhaktapur, were busy harvesting paddy on Wednesday in a field near the school. They were seen collectively engaged in cutting, threshing, and bringing in the rice harvest.
Program coordinator and teacher, Kalpana Khanal, explained that the students were brought to the field to provide them with practical, hands-on knowledge.
She mentioned that every year, Class 4 students are brought to the field to learn the entire agricultural process, from sowing seeds and transplanting to harvesting. During their time there, the students were actively asking teachers and support staff questions about farming practices they didn't know.
Founding Principal Bhakta Rajbhandari stated that the school conducts various programs like this to impart practical wisdom beyond textbooks and help students understand the hard work of farmers. Significantly, the paddy grown in the school's own field will be donated as a 'Muthidaan' (handful of charity) to the Bhikshus of Muni Vihar, Inacho, Bhaktapur, every year on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.
