Everest English School's Cultural Initiative: Education Beyond the Classroom
Education is not merely the study of textbooks limited to the classroom; it is a process deeply connected to the transfer of values, culture, and the development of life skills. Embracing this reality, Everest English School, located in Mibachhen, Bhaktapur-2, recently organized a Junior Cultural Program, highlighting the broad dimensions of school education.
During the program, students showcased dances, songs, and creative performances reflecting the various castes, languages, costumes, and cultural traditions of Nepal. These performances were not limited to entertainment but successfully conveyed messages of unity in diversity, coexistence, and mutual respect.
In today's competitive educational environment, the importance of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities alongside academic achievement is increasing. Everest English School appears to be making efforts to make learning practical and life-oriented by identifying student interests and abilities through the operation of 20 different clubs, including sports, dance, singing, yoga, and wushu.
Such activities not only develop confidence, discipline, cooperation, and leadership skills in students but also instill a sense of pride in their original identity. Putting the concept of "Friendship first, then competition" into practice can be seen as a positive exercise in school education.
In a multicultural society like Nepal, teaching children to respect diversity from an early age is a modern necessity. The development of tolerance, social harmony, and cultural awareness through such programs at the school level is a positive sign.
These student-centered cultural programs do more than just strengthen school activities; they increase cultural awareness in society and prepare a foundation to ensure the continuity of original traditions for future generations.
Such programs by Everest English School can serve as a source of inspiration not only for the participating students themselves but also for other individuals, communities, and schools.
