Election Staff and Materials Respatched to Ramechhap Following Fatal Accident
Ramechhap — Election materials and additional staff were sent on Tuesday to three polling centers in Ramechhap after the personnel previously deployed for election duty met with an accident on Monday.
A vehicle carrying polling staff and election materials destined for the Shitaladevi Secondary School and Siruwari polling centers in Ward No. 2 Deurali, as well as the Ward Office building in Sangutar of Ward No. 3, met with an accident at Siruwari in Deurali on Monday afternoon.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Parshuram Yadav and Polling Officer for Sangutar, Dor Prasad Ghimire, died in the crash. Seven other staff members were injured in the accident. They have been sent to Kathmandu and are currently undergoing treatment at the military hospital.
The Office of the Chief Election Officer in Ramechhap stated that new staff members were deployed to those locations following the death of the polling officer and the injury of other personnel. Since the ballots, ballot boxes, and other election materials sent to those polling centers were also damaged, replacement materials have been dispatched.
Meanwhile, the funeral of Ghimire, who lost his life in the accident, was held on Tuesday at Tamakoshi in Manthali. He was a lower-secondary level second-class teacher at Rudraksheshwar Secondary School in Manthali-7, Mugitar. The body of the deceased ASI Yadav has been taken to his home district of Saptari.
