Election Schedule and Fees Announced for Nepali Congress Special Convention

The Election Committee for the Nepali Congress Special General Convention has officially released the full schedule for its upcoming leadership elections.

This comprehensive timeline covers every stage of the process, beginning with the publication of the voter list and concluding with the announcement of the final winners. According to the committee, voting to choose the party’s new leadership will take place tonight, starting at 9:00 PM.

The busy schedule for Tuesday began at 12:30 PM with the release of the first voter list, followed by an hour-long period for any delegates to file or review objections. By 2:00 PM, the final voter list was published, and the window for candidates to register their names opened for one hour.

Later this afternoon, at 4:30 PM, the committee will release the first list of candidates in alphabetical order using the Devanagari script. This will be followed by brief periods for filing objections, investigating those claims, and allowing candidates to withdraw their names if they choose. The final list of confirmed candidates is expected to be published at 8:45 PM, just before polling begins.

In addition to the timing, the committee has also set the registration fees for various leadership positions according to the party's 2026 election guidelines. Candidates running for the top role of President must pay a fee of 30,000 Rupees.

For those running for Vice President or General Secretary, the fee is 25,000 Rupees, while the Joint General Secretary position costs 20,000 Rupees to enter. Finally, anyone running to be a Central Member must pay a registration fee of 10,000 Rupees.
