Election Commission Intensifies Voter Awareness Programs and Releases Sample Ballots

Kathmandu. In view of the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5, the Election Commission has intensified its voter awareness programs. As part of this initiative, the Commission has released sample ballots categorized by various districts and constituencies across the country.

According to the Commission, different types of ballots have been prepared based on the structure of the constituencies in the districts of all seven provinces. Separate sample ballots have been made public for districts with only one constituency and for those with more than one.

The Commission stated that the size of the ballot papers will also vary depending on the number of candidates. Constituencies with many candidates will have larger ballots, while those with fewer candidates will have smaller ones. In particular, the ballot papers used in Kathmandu district, which has the highest number of constituencies and candidates, will be large in size.

Under Karnali Province, Salyan, Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, and Rukum West have only one constituency each, while Dailekh and Surkhet have two constituencies each. The Commission has already released the actual sample ballots for these districts.

Similarly, in Sudurpashchim Province, Bajura, Bajhang, Doti, Darchula, Baitadi, and Dadeldhura have one constituency each. Achham has two, Kanchanpur has three, and Kailali has five constituencies. The Commission stated that actual sample ballots for all these constituencies have also been made public.

According to the Commission, actual ballots for other districts will be released gradually. Currently, the printing of ballots is underway at the Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra, while the printing of ballots for the proportional representation system has already been completed.

The Commission mentioned that voter awareness programs are being conducted using sample ballots to help voters understand the voting process. The work of delivering these sample ballots to polling stations across the country has also been initiated.
