Nepal Police Prepares to Recruit 136,744 Election Police for Upcoming Elections
Nepal Police is preparing to recruit 136,744 election police for the security of the upcoming elections scheduled for Falgun 21. The recruitment process will involve checking the applicant’s conduct through their CRS (Crime Record System) records. Individuals with a criminal background or those affiliated with political parties will not be eligible to join as election police.
The CRS record will verify whether a person has been involved in any criminal or serious offenses. Currently, Nepal Police has started updating the CRS records online for individuals involved in criminal activities. Only those cleared through these records will be recruited as election police.
The police have submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs for recruiting 136,744 election police after assessing the risks at polling stations nationwide.
According to Nepal Police spokesperson Abi Narayan Kafle, in preparation for the elections on Falgun 21, the police have proposed to recruit a total of 140,000 election police across the country.
