59 Days Remaining Until House of Representatives Election

KATHMANDU, January 5: The Election Commission has designated 36 district judges as standby Chief Election Officers and Election Officers. 

Earlier today, the Commission also assigned 77 district judges as Chief Election Officers. The election for members of the House of Representatives is scheduled for March 5. 

Effective from January 9, a total of 88 individuals were appointed as Chief Election Officers and Election Officers under Section 8 of the House of Representatives Member Act, 2017, following consultation with the Judicial Council.

According to the Commission, the newly appointed Chief Election Officers and Election Officers have been instructed to report to their respective electoral constituencies by January 16. 

The Commission has requested them to establish the offices of the Chief Election Officer and Election Officer to conduct the election programs. 

In the 275-member House of Representatives, 165 members are elected through the direct election system and 110 members are elected through the proportional representation system.
