Congress Vice President Khadka and UML's Shahi to Compete Again

Dhruba Kumar Shahi of the CPN (UML) is set to compete once again against Purna Bahadur Khadka, the Vice President of the Nepali Congress.

A full meeting of the Constituency Coordination Committee held on Saturday unanimously recommended Shahi's name for Surkhet Constituency No. 1.

The party has sent his name as the sole candidate to the central office. Shahi was previously defeated by Nepali Congress candidate Purna Bahadur Khadka in the 2079 B.S elections.

In that election, Khadka received 42,607 votes, while Shahi obtained 30,988 votes. Meanwhile, Jit Bahadur Rana is the candidate from the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre). The Maoist Centre, which supported UML's Shahi in 2074 B.S, supported Congress's Khadka in 2079 B.S.
