Education Minister Pun Asks Not to Be Invited to Formal Events: 'Don't Spread Rumours of Foreign Trips'
Kathmandu. Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Mahabir Pun, has urged everyone not to invite him to formal programs such as inaugurations/foundation stone layings and events where he is expected to be the chief guest.
Minister Pun made this announcement via a public notice on his social media account, Facebook. He clarified that he did not and will not attend the UNESCO General Conference in Uzbekistan or the British Council conference in Nigeria.
"Please, no one should invite the current Minister (me) to any formal programs like inauguration/foundation laying ceremonies or events where I would be the chief guest," Minister Pun wrote in the post.
He further clarified the matter of foreign travel, stating, "Only a few ministers have travelled abroad for meetings that were absolutely essential and unavoidable. Please do not spread rumours that we are just travelling abroad (for fun)."
Minister Pun's message indicates his preference for focusing his time on ministerial duties rather than attending ceremonial events.
