Election Commission Issues Directives for Pre-Election Silence

KATHMANDU. The silent period for the House of Representatives election, scheduled for March 5 (Falgun 21), has commenced as of Monday night. The Election Commission has issued additional directives to Code of Conduct Monitoring Officers for this period. 

The Commission directed the effective implementation of specific codes of conduct that must be followed from today until the polling stations close on election day.

To ensure the implementation of the Election Code of Conduct, Assistant Chief District Officers and heads of the Treasury and Accounts Controller Offices have been designated as Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Officers with distinct responsibilities. 

In accordance with the provisions included in the Election Code of Conduct, the Commission has instructed all concerned parties to monitor the effective compliance of the conduct required by the code from today until March 5.
