Gen Z Activist Dhungana Criticizes PM, Announces Nationwide Peaceful Protest

Kathmandu: Gen Z activist Miraj Dhungana has strongly criticized the activities of Prime Minister Sushila Karki. Speaking at the joint Gen Z movement announcement on Sunday, he accused the government of being completely ineffective.

He said, “What has Sushila done? She has done nothing. The government has never properly addressed the problems. Initially, it seemed exemplary, but now the government appears lazy and negligent. Such a government has never been seen before.”

Dhungana stated that the movement is being launched due to dissatisfaction with the government’s work. Raising the question of whose support helped her become Prime Minister, he added, “On whose backing did you become Prime Minister? You provide no solutions to the country, no stability. The situation on the 8th September and now is the same, if not worse.”

He accused the government of being indifferent to peace and security, saying, “What is the government doing for peace and security? It is unacceptable for the government to let people sleep on the streets.”

According to Dhungana, the main agenda of the Gen Z movement includes constitutional reform, structural transformation of the state, political stability, impartial justice, good governance, corruption control, and strict action against corrupt individuals.

He further demanded that, for sustainable development and prosperity, a multi-party consensus conference or a constitutional amendment assembly should be formed to establish a unified reform process.

During the movement, he also called on the government to withdraw the cases filed against Gen Z activists for their protests and to immediately release innocent youth who have been arrested.

Dhungana emphasized that impartial investigations and legal action must be taken against those involved in human rights violations, brutal suppression, and killings of youth during the Gen Z movement. He also urged the government to ensure proper medical treatment, compensation, and rehabilitation for those injured in the protests.

Declaring a nationwide peaceful movement, Dhungana called on everyone to gather at Maiti Ghar Mandala at 11 AM tomorrow.
