Deuba faction to move Supreme Court against Election Commission's decision
Kathmandu: The Sher Bahadur Deuba faction is set to approach the Supreme Court today to challenge the Election Commission's decision to grant official recognition to the Nepali Congress led by Gagan Thapa.
A meeting of the Deuba faction’s Congress Central Working Committee held on Saturday decided to legally contest the Commission's ruling. The meeting entrusted Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka with the responsibility of handling the legal aspects of the case.
Khadka has already consulted with legal experts to draft the writ petition. Senior advocates Khamba Bahadur Khati, Sher Bahadur KC, and others are expected to assist in the matter.
The Deuba faction has been refusing to recognize the special convention organized by the Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma group, arguing that it lacks legitimacy.
