Sher Bahadur Deuba Faction Appeals to Election Commission to Postpone Election Schedule
The outgoing Nepali Congress president, Sher Bahadur Deuba, and his faction have approached the Election Commission, demanding a postponement of the election schedule.
Meen Bishwakarma, a leader from Deuba's group, informed that a team led by former Attorney General Khambhabahadur Khati was sent to the Commission to request the postponement.
The Election Commission had set Magh 6 as the date for the registration of candidacy for direct elections.
However, after the Commission recognized the group led by Gagan Thapa, elected through Congress’s Special General Convention, Deuba's faction filed a writ at the Supreme Court against this decision. The writ hearing has been scheduled for Magh 6.
