Kathmandu - Deepak Khadka, an invited central member of the Nepali Congress and the immediate past Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, has expressed serious concern and objection to news reports appearing in various media outlets that have linked his name to the Nepal Scouts rent dispute.
Issuing a statement on Thursday, Khadka stated that news has been published and broadcast with the intention of character assassination by repeatedly linking his name to 'Khadka Land Development Pvt. Ltd.', a company in which he has no ownership. He mentioned that such news has caused serious harm to his personal and political life.
In the statement, Khadka said:
"The news published and broadcast in various media outlets with the intention of character assassination by repeatedly linking my name to Khadka Land Development Pvt. Ltd., a company in which I have no ownership whatsoever, has caused serious harm to my personal and political life."
He accused certain groups of engaging in a game to defame him by linking his name for their momentary self-interest and to seek political revenge.
Former Minister Khadka clarified that his life is like an 'open book' and that everything is transparent and accountable. He has sincerely requested the media, which is the fourth estate of the state, to publish news that is true, factual, and impartial.
