Dayahang Rai’s Question Ahead of Elections: ‘What is your basis for asking for my vote?’
As the House of Representatives elections draw near, political parties and candidates have intensified their campaigning.
In the elections scheduled for February 21, individuals from artistic backgrounds are also contesting as candidates under both the first-past-the-post and proportional representation systems.
While some artists have openly supported these candidates and others have declared their allegiance to specific parties, actor Dayahang Rai has not aligned himself with any party to date.
He has signaled that parties and candidates must have a solid basis when going before the people to ask for votes. Dayahang wrote on the social media platform Facebook, "Elections are approaching in the country. I have one vote. What is your basis for asking for this vote?"
Although political parties have already started door-to-door programs, they have yet to release their manifestos. Voters have also begun demanding election agendas from those who come to their doorsteps to solicit votes.
